Patrick’s Asian Restaurants Picks

When it comes to a hot bowl of pho in Columbia, Pho Viet is the go-to place, with locations in Columbia's 5 Points and on Two Notch Road. Don't miss out on their fresh spring rolls and must-try Vietnamese coffee. If you haven't experienced Vietnamese coffee before, be prepared for its intense strength. For the more adventurous eaters, consider adding tendon and tripe to your bowl. However, if you prefer a safer option, the pho with beef balls is always a reliable choice.

Arirang Korean Restaurant, situated on Decker Blvd in Columbia, deserves accolades for its authentic flavors that truly transport you to Korea. I highly recommend indulging in their seafood pancake, bibimbap, or the succulent short ribs. Prepare to be impressed!

Discover a hidden gem at 92 Chicken, also located on Decker Blvd. During my visit to South Korea last year, I had the pleasure of trying Korean fried chicken multiple times, and 92 Chicken's rendition did not disappoint. In fact, it became my final meal before returning to the States. The chicken at 92 Chicken is outstanding. I recommend trying the chicken with onion and white sauce, paired with one of their traditional flavors. Trust me, I'd choose this chicken over southern fried chicken any day.

Located in Irmo, Sun Ming proudly serves the best Chinese food in the Midlands. While their menu offers a variety of non-traditional Chinese dishes that Americans love, I urge you to explore their authentic menu. If you plan to dine in, I recommend calling ahead to order their delectable duck, lobster, and steamed fish.

For an exceptional sushi experience, make your way to Inakaya Watanabe, which has two locations in Columbia. My personal favorite is their St. Andrews location, where you can enjoy both Tatami and traditional seating options. Count on fresh fish and creatively crafted rolls. While I usually opt for the Chirashi, I must admit that the Godzilla roll is a delightful treat as well.
